Party Central Makati

I've been home in Makati almost all of January. What doing? Here's a weekly report of my activities todate:

Week 1: Nght out with G7 for Annette's birthday.

Chateau 1771 in Greenbelt 5, Makati

Vue Bar at Bellevue Hotel in Alabang

Last Dance for birthday celebrant Annette

Week 2: Dinner party at home with Sydney Group.
It was a chance for a trial run for Chef Michael. And judging by the evening's dinner fare, Regency now has a new party chef. Yippee!

Week 3: Dinner party at home with RR66 (STC classmates) for Mr&Mrs D (favorite teacher).

It was potluck but as we only had a day to plan, it would have been either too little, too much, or all noodles. I played it safe and prepared dinner for an unknown number of pax. The evening was pronounced an unqualified success.

Week 4: Chinese New Year dinner party at home with Singapore group.

Is there any doubt that IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES? 😍

Sunday in the park

We're home in Makati this week. We've just had a wonderful leisurely late lunch at Brasserie Bohème, a five minute walk from our apartment.

The newly installed chef, Michael Figdor sat with us to discuss the menu for a small dinner party we're having at home next week. He's young, bright, and infectiously enthusiastic.

He asked if he could use our kitchen for the dinner party and Stuart worried if it would even work. Admittedly, since we moved into the apartment three years ago, our kitchen has really only functioned mainly as an architectural feature.

Stuart has now gone to his barbers' and I walk home through the park.

On Saturdays, Salcedo Park gets very busy. A popular weekend market draws in crowds for fresh produce, plants, flowers, herbs, health food, international gourmet food, Filipino delicacies, and grills and barbecues cooked on site.

But on Sundays, the park is quiet, save for the odd yelp or squeal from  the children's playground.

They haven't taken down the Christmas tree and a nativity scene set up near it seems oddly out of place.

Somebody is trying to engage a little boy in ball practice but the child prefers to sit it out on a plastic stool. A cat is asleep on a park bench.

It's a beautiful Sunday, cool and lazy. It's a beautiful park. It's right across the street from our apartment building and I'm wondering why I haven't done this in a very long while.
